earworm: /i(ə)rˌwərm/ nouninformal a catchy song or tune that runs continually through a person's mind. Nothing like something running through your head incessantly... I find that sometimes we blame happenstance for things that have deeper meaning. Or we read meaning where there is none. But then again you could say it's all a matter of perspective right? I was working the other day when I had this start playing through my head: A throwback from a much younger time it brought a certain grin to my face to hear the old familiar tune. And not to be outdone, the following evening another song assailed my mind: Seeing a pattern yet? If you're familiar with the movie The Number 23 they discuss this as part of the plot. How you will notice something more when you look for it. While I could err and completely agree with this, in my practice I believe that when we take note of things it is for a reason. And it's especially important when we can draw parallels and patterns from such observations. The convergence of the energy is trying to make us take note so it will repeatedly show up in differing forms. So what do these two songs mean for me? Well they both reference a time when I was much younger, they talk about the complications of love. I also happened to be considering these songs during the start of the holidays when we often are around loved ones more. To me the message is clear: Be grateful and mindful of the ones you care about, don't forget the past, but don't hold onto the negative parts. Enjoy things for what they are worth.
