June Book Review: Wishes Fulfilled: Mastering the Art of Manifestation by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer6/25/2013 Those who know me know I'm a big fan of Dyer's writings. When I heard about this book I knew I'd have to put it on my reading queue and add it to my review list pronto! For those unfamiliar with his work I highly recommend it all! It speaks to you in what I feel is a clear fashion with a very conversational and calm feel. Wishes Fulfilled is about just that, making your wishes come true. Personally I think it's a great title and definitely something that makes you want to pick it up off the shelf and peer into the pages. As with most of his works it's divided into two parts. The first part primes you for the second part and even though you may be like me and want to dive right into the later information, it's always a good idea to start at the beginning. With the first three chapters Dyer speaks about the concept you have about yourself, what you are, and what you can accomplish. He introduces the various parts of the Self, including the Higher Self, but also relates to you the existence of the Highest Self as well. For some this information may be incredibly new and hard to take in. He is talking about things we can't necessarily see or measure - but that greatly affect us. It's important to be open to these concepts as they will determine the success of you applying the later information in the book. The nitty gritty of the book, the actual steps to living a wishes fulfilled life as he calls it are each individually discussed in their own chapters in the second part of the book. He gives you key points to remember, points out some resistance you may encounter and offers three things at the end of each chapter to apply to help you solidify your practice of the step discussed. The final chapter brings it altogether covering seven questions that can help you integrate the aforementioned principles and break through some of the natural resistances our egos provide. I deeply enjoyed the integrative advice offered here as I could see many of the issues coming up. Personal examples and accounts of Dyer and others are shared throughout the book. Stepping back, one of my favorite things about Dyer's writing is the tone of it. It is calm and peaceful and never feels like pushing. I can imagine him presenting me with this information in person in just the same way. He also has lovely anecdotal stories throughout his work citing personal experiences and sharings from others. These are valuable because they help you to not feel like the only one and prove that miraculous change is indeed possible. Finally there are always such lovely and inspiring quotes scattered throughout his work. With this particular writing Dyer made a lot of references to biblical scripture. For some people who may not be familiar with or overly interested in the Bible I still urge you to give this reading a chance. On a scale of 1 to 5 this book gets a solid 5 from me! The clarity of language, the simple and direct ways to use the information, and the beautiful and inspiring quotes are great reasons alone to read this book, even more than once!
