I've been absent much of the latter part of last year and truth be told a lot of things I planned to take a step forward in, especially with this business, just didn't happen. However, I have more clarity (link to future blog post) in that now and it's all gravy!
Honestly, I love my inspirational teachers and in my younger years I would have definitely been more likely to pick up this book. After all, what woman doesn't want to be wanted?! But as I've grown and gone along I've realized at the core I just want to be loved (and truly that's what we all want) and that being vyed for just wasn't for me. I have to say, turning the skeptic is by far the best indication that the writing is worth the read...
Truth be told when I finally caved and bought this book, it was after sitting and poring over all the blurbs I could get from it. Peeking inside on Amazon and Barnes & Noble 's .coms and hitting the extra blurb Marie put out about it to help you work through her approach. At the time I finally caved I was a true fan and supporter of Marie and while I had at first had my doubts that I would even read this book just from the little I was able to read I knew it would be transformative.
At the time I started reading it, it was long overdue and really I hope you take this to heart and read it sooner rather than later. It will do wonders for you, if you let it and if you take the time to be present with her offerings. I say that because as a self-help book veteran that's probably the biggest reason why "these books don't help". They're guides, but they don't do it for you. You have still got to do the work and if you're not willing to then yes reading has been a waste of your time, in my opinion.
With Marie though, she's just not like some of the other authors you find out there. She has a verve, a joie de vivre and a magnetic energy that just makes you fall in love with her sass and her style. She tells you straight up, like that true-blue girlfriend when you're being silly but with all the love she has. You don't read her and feel bad about yourself, you feel empowered in your awareness and have a desire to make a change.
Along with her lovely presence in her writing is "real deal" stuff that actually is helpful. With chapters like "Seven Habits of Highly Unattractive Women" and "Trash Your Perfect Man Checklist" you can't help but want to read, if only to find out what is that really all about?!
But perhaps the greatest thing about this book is that it really isn't just about romantic relationships. Its actually really and truly about having a great relationship with yourself and who you are and loving that. In that guise you cannot help but model it elsewhere, and when you do magic happens. She strikes to the core of what you really need to do, uses straight and clear language about some things you probably want to ditch habit wise, and is real with you about some of the other lies you and others have fed you about any relationship.
So if you want to be a better you. If you want to embrace and love who you are and rock that energy everywhere in your life, this is what you need to read, hands down no questions asked! I give it a 5 of 5 for sheer brilliant awesomeness, clarity, and loving guidance!
