There's nothing like an unpleasant conversation to really bring out what you need to work on.
Recently I found myself discussing something with a potential beau that brought up a slew of negative feelings about body image and I knew I had to share the clarity I gained with you...
I want to start off by expressing some gratitude, and I encourage you to do the same...
Thank you life for giving me unpleasant circumstances from which to grow. (Click to Tweet!)
Now on to the goods...I rarely look in the mirror (which is apparent by how I look should you see me running errands out and about sometimes). Its such that I don't put much precedence in how I look, even though it's something that can pose a problem.
As a result of this personal laissez-faire attitude about appearance it has bled over into other areas of my life that result in more negative feelings about body image.
I won't regale you with the details of the conversation but I will tell you this...it really got me thinking. And even resulted in another conversation with another healer colleague of mine, which just brought up more things to ponder.
Many of us do not like how we look or something about ourselves physically. But just as often as this occurrence is the feeling that it's not worth it to do anything about it or that we can't change it, or worse yet the complete lack of taking action. So it just turns into a little bit of a downward spiral, we feel bad, we feel powerless, we do nothing, we continue to feel bad.
With the energies of the Solstice coming upon us (the 21st this year) it's a good time to sit back and reflect about our lives.
I challenge you to answer the following in the comments (or just to yourself)...
Make no mistake, I endorse you loving yourself for who and what you are. I believe we should always get to know a trait or habit before we ditch it. But I think it's just as important for us to be happy with who and what we are and change is okay when it comes from a place of love & understanding inside.
