What to Look For in a Reiki Practitioner
Reiki, while a wonderful healing modality, is not a medical "cure-all" for anything or anyone. It is important to understand this when searching & deciding on the right Reiki practitioner for you. Stay away from anyone who claims it to be a "magical fix all" for your problems.)
When choosing a practitioner you should feel confident in their ability to best serve your wellness goals. It is okay to choose another practitioner & advisable if you feel uncomfortable in any way & at any time while working with them.
A good Reiki practitioner is going to respect your concerns as a client as well as inform you of what they are doing & when. They should be competent and able to answer all your questions. A red flag would be: refusal to answer or confusing answers. Also be wary of anyone who says their way of doing healing is the only "right" way.
Your Reiki practitioner should aim to make you feel comfortable at all times. They should take into consideration any physical limitations and injuries. You should never experience pain during a Reiki session. They should be considerate of possible allergies if they use scented candles, incense, or herbal oils. As well as possible sensitivity to light.
Your Reiki practitioner should also never give medical direction. Reiki is excellent complimentary therapy but does not replace a licensed physician. They may warn you of possible contraindications or reactions. Yet they should never negate a medical professionals’ directives.
